The Samsung foldables have decidedly lagged behind when it comes to camera capabilities, but last year’s models brought marked improvements and gave fans hope they might start to catch up. Now we get the first details on the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5’s camera setups and it’s good news and bad news.
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Galaxy Z Fold5 will offer the same 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto cameras as the Galaxy Z Fold4. The Z Flip5 will also retain the dual 12MP camera with wide and ultrawide lenses. That’s the not particularly promising part.
The good news is the phones will reportedly come with new camera sensors, which should result in better image quality. It’s unclear if all sensors will be upgraded or just some of them, but we have little doubt we’ll learn more in the months leading up to the announcement.
The report further mentions improved hinge design, bigger outer displays and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset.
